Pueblo del Sol seeks to create opportunities for people in nearby communities by establishing spaces where work allows them to develop skills, learn new trades, and turn that knowledge into abilities that will serve them beyond a single task.

From its earliest years, one of Pueblo del Sol’s guiding principles has been to create opportunities for people in nearby communities, recognizing both the knowledge that already exists and the potential to develop new skills. In the fields, workshops, and various production processes, many people have learned by doing. Some started from scratch; others contributed knowledge acquired in their communities; and, over time, that exchange allowed them to develop skills that are now part of their craft and their work.

LEARN A TRADE, DEVELOP A SKILL

What WE'VE LEARNED also becomes a tool.

Farming, beekeeping, pottery, production, and other processes have enabled people to acquire knowledge, take on new responsibilities, and find different ways to contribute based on their skills. The value also lies in what happens next. When a person masters a process and can teach it to someone else, knowledge ceases to be concentrated and begins to multiply within the community.

ANTONIO LOEZA “EL TIGRE” – SAN GABRIEL

The MAN who paved the way for Pueblo del Sol.

Antonio, known as “El Tigre,” is originally from San Gabriel and is a retired military officer. During the quarantine, he shared the founder’s vision and put his experience to work on a project that was beginning to take shape. He played a key role in the construction and opening of the estate’s first roads. Over time, his discipline, experience, and problem-solving skills made him a go-to expert in many trades within Pueblo del Sol. Today, he is part of the technical, operational, and security team, contributing his experience and deep knowledge of the area.

INOCENCIO RAMIREZ – HUARUMBO

From Carpentry
to master potter

Ino began his journey at Pueblo del Sol in the carpentry department. His eagerness to learn led him to the ceramics workshop, where he developed a new craft until he became a master potter and workshop leader. Throughout this process, he has deepened his knowledge through collaborations with renowned artists and master potters. Today, he shares what he has learned by teaching workshops to children, staff, and visitors. His experience is now beginning to create new opportunities. Ino trains women from the Huarumbo community in the craft of ceramics, spreading knowledge and contributing to the development of skills and economic independence within the community.

For Pueblo del Sol, decent work means creating conditions that allow people to develop their skills, strengthen their economic autonomy, and build a life for themselves within their own territory. In rural communities, the lack of employment alternatives can drive migration, tear families apart, and exacerbate social vulnerability, especially among young people. Creating local opportunities helps strengthen ties to the community, family cohesion, and the social fabric.

People who started out learning a trade now master processes, take on new responsibilities, and pass on their knowledge to others. Work thus becomes a tool for human development that empowers individuals, their families, and their communities.
